Hi Alex! What’s your background?
I'm 27 and I'm from Russia. I come from a bohemian household, as both my parents are classically trained musicians who work in media. I studied in Russian State Music School from age 7 to 16, and then I studied Theoretical And Practical Linguistics for a while until I finally decided to go ahead and work in advertisement, which was kind of the family business at the time. Then after a while, I felt that I wanted to travel. I went to Europe, and soon after my choice of country fell on Finland and I decided to stay here to start a business with a friend.
What will you be working on at Neverthink? What are you most looking forward to?
I'm joining Neverthink as the curator of the Geeky and Fandom channels, which I'm very excited about. In Russia we read a lot and one of my favorite genres is science fiction, because it gives you an opportunity to look into the possibilities that the future might hold.
For example, one of my favorite authors Viktor Pelevin, in his post-apocalyptic book “S.N.U.F.F.”, talks about a technology of Surs or Surrogates – an artificial intelligence in a human – like a body which can be customized as you go, like an avatar, or a host in HBO's Westworld's latest season. We see many variations of that same idea all through Sci-Fi, even in Marvel's Avengers through Jarvis, where Tony Starks' AI gets a physical body in Vision. Science fiction fascinates me and I love to find videos that go further into detail on it and many other related topics, like history and lore.
What’s your passion outside of work?
As long as I can remember, I always loved playing video games and watching movies. I always craved to know more about them, so I got invested in reading books and comic-books, and I've been keeping at it ever since. And of course, one of my biggest passions is music, so I play piano on my free time.
